Stax Records

Stax Records out of Memphis is without a doubt one of the best American labels of all time. Being the stable of such luminaries as Otis Redding, Booker T & the MG’s, Sam and Dave, Carla Thomas, William BellEddie Floyd, The Bar-Kays, Albert King, and one of my all-time favorites Rufus Thomas.  I always think of Stax as the smaller and more rockier version of the dominant Motown out of the Motor City.

Shows Otis at the ripe age of 26, he died the next year.

These videos are from a tour Stax-Volt put on in 1967 throughout Europe. 6-Parter.
